Brian Head Town Council ApprovesAspen Meadows Annexation of Nearly 1800 Acres Into Brian Head Town on May 28th, 2024

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in our continued progress of Aspen Meadows. The Brian Head Town Council recently approved 5-0 the full annexation of nearly 1800 acres of the 2000 acres of Aspen Meadows master-plan project into the greater Brian Head Town boundaries from Iron County, paving the way for a transformative development that will positively impact Aspen Meadows and the ski industry at large.

Now, 100% of the land destined as a part of Aspen Meadows lies within the Town Boundaries of Brian Head. Our annexation improves communications, permitting, and planning activities for Aspen Meadows and Brian Head together with Brian Head Resort. This annexation supports future development and expansion of new future ski area terrain, key town infrastructure projects and new community amenities.

With this approval and in collaboration with Brian Head Resort, Aspen Meadows will introduce 850 new acres of skiable terrain and feature a new master plan of a new ski-in, ski-out community. The expansion of Aspen Meadows has the potential to elevate Brian Head Resort to become the seventh-largest ski resort in Utah upon completion.

Key benefits to the Brian Head Community:

  • Provides new tax & economic revenue stream directly to Brian Head Town, to help prepare and support for future growth and expansion of the emerging Brian Head resort community, including a new Fire Station, new Public Works land for expansion, New Water and Sewer public works services for New Snowmaking, New Ski Trails, New Neighborhoods & Ski Villages, and additional lands donated including helping to secure a key in-town land donation for the future growth of the Brian Head Town offices into a future Town Center where the town offices are located today, as Brian Head grows.

  • Establishes a new Mountain Zoning land use district for Aspen Meadows known as “MZOD" or the new Mountain Zoning Overlay District, enabling Aspen Meadows to better control its own land uses in the future with improved continuity with Brian Head Town’s master land plan and land use code.

  • Streamlines local governmental review, permitting and approval process for our development and construction activities and future phases of Aspen Meadows and Brian Head Resort. As we move forward on this exciting journey, we're grateful to the entire Brian Head Community and for your interest in keeping up with Aspen Meadows, Brian Head Town, and Brian Head Resort. Your support and enthusiasm as a potential and new Founder of Aspen Meadows means a lot as we aim to build on our community's legacy and spirit. Our sincere thanks again to the greater Brian Head community, Brian Head Town & Brian Head Resort and to yourselves for being part of this with us!
